From Fortune 100 to Start Up - the Big Leap

The joy of winning exhilarates us whenever a candidate of ours gets into his or her desirable space. And only a double paddled effort can help to achieve this feat. One such brilliant candidate of ours has such a story to share.
It is literally true that you can succeed best and quickest by helping others to succeed.

But with Deepti, the case was different. She wanted more from her work and her career. Deepti shares, “I realised that I get bored in a snap if the work is monotonous and I need to work in a continuously challenging environment.”
Fortunately, when she was in that state of mind, she got a call from us. When Deepti shared her thoughts, our consultant helped her introspect and plan her moves carefully. This is when she opened up about her hidden aspiration of becoming a creator or maybe start something of her own someday. And for this, she already had abundant experience with big MNCs which gave her a global perspective as well as an idea of policies and practices in large organizations.
While this had paved a strong foundation for her, what she needed now was to experience the initial stages of a business and live through the growth of such an organization in order to grasp the intricacies at this phase. And who can question the credibility of the presence of these qualities in a start-up like Rentomojo? Our consultant helped her clarify her thoughts and crystalize them into a proper decision.
Deepti says and I quote “Consequently, my preference became small or budding NBFCs and start-ups majorly in the consumer lending space as I believed that there were a lot of opportunities there, plus they were incessantly demanding too. Luckily, Autumn Leaf (ALC) met me with an opportunity which was precisely what I was looking for when I thought about it more and my boat turned her sails in that direction.”
She recollects “Overall, I felt that my engagement with Autumn Leaf was less of recruitment consulting and more of talent advisory. The consultant provided me with all the relevant info without pushing me. She did everything possible to make me comfortable enough to communicate my doubts and expectations with ease. She not only added to my idea about the positives of joining a start-up but also dished out the possible rough edges.”
She went on to say “ALC didn’t stop at this. They helped me with their insights on compensation negotiation as well as on relocation. I was transitioning from a large global MNC like Citi which has very structured compensation to a start-up which naturally operates very differently, something which was quite alien for me in terms of my expectation setting. Besides, I was also moving from Delhi to Bangalore. I honestly think very highly of the personal touch ALC provided me, along with all the professionalism.”
Professionals like Deepti are by nature high-flyers and hustlers. Her journey is taking her closer to becoming an entrepreneur someday. It took her some time to realize the same, but it is conspicuous that her plan is quite plausible.
And this realization, a by-product of our effort in fulfilling a client’s mandate for a senior position with someone who not only brings functional knowledge and expertise but also is culturally oriented to suit them, is a double whammy for us.
Don’t we have enough reasons to feel the joy!
